Recurrent pleomorphic adenoma of the parotid gland: the tumor recurs inside the salivary tissue (A, yellow asterisks), it shows a typical myxoid appearance and a plurinodular growth pattern on panoramic histological view, and it involves the surgical margin (A, red arrows), highlighted by ink marking. Some neoplastic nests (A, yellow circle) spread along the perineural spaces (A, hematoxylin & eosin, 1.25×). At higher magnification, this phenomenon (B, yellow circle) is best appreciated (B, hematoxylin & eosin, 10×). Both neoplastic nests and nerves (C, black arrows) are brown-stained by immunohistochemistry for S100 protein (C, polyclonal, 10×); however, nerves (D, black arrows) are not reactive for pancytokeratins, which reveal in brown only the neoplastic nests (D, clone MNF116, 20×). Synchronous Parotid and Homolateral Submandibular Gland Pleomorphic Adenoma
Introduction: Pleomorphic adenomas are benign neoplasms of salivary glands. The simultaneous homolateral occurrence of these tumors in salivary glands is exceedingly rare. Case Report: An adult female presenting to our OPD with the swelling of right-sided preauricular and submandibular regions was diagnosed with the pleomorphic adenoma based on fine needle aspiration c...
متن کاملTemporal Bone Invasion by Recurrent Benign Pleomorphic Adenoma of the Parotid Gland
Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common neoplasm of the parotid gland. It is associated with the risk of recurrence and malignant transformation. Tumor spillage, incomplete excision, and violation of the tumor pseudocapsule are considered the only proven factors contributing to recurrent disease. The upward spread of recurrent pleomorphic adenoma along the fallopian canal via the stylomastoid fo...

Benign lymphoepithelial cysts of the parotid are common in retropositive patients, but extremely rare in HIV-negative individuals. We present a 28-year-old man who presented with a painless, gradually increasing swelling in the left parotid region and was clinically diagnosed to have a pleomorphic adenoma of the left parotid gland. Preoperative blood investigations revealed that the patient was...

Pleomorphic adenoma, also known as benign mixed tumor, is the most common tumor affecting the parotid gland and can reach massive size; however, intracranial invasion is rare. Recurrence of pleomorphic adenoma after excision is a well-known phenomenon and can present decades after resection of the primary tumor. Here we present the case of a 53-year-old man who presented to our clinic with ear ...

Pleomorphic Adenoma is the most common type. Basal Cell Adenoma is a subtype of the Monomorphic Adenoma with rare occurrence. Proper diagnosis and clinical evaluation by the use of radiography can lead the physician to the best t...
